Geeta Nayar

Senior Associate Solicitor
Geeta Nayar is a Senior Associate Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell, Advocate for The MASIC Foundation and Birth Trauma Association, and Make Birth Better Champion.

As a result of her own traumatic birth experience with her daughter, Geeta has become a strong maternal health advocate and campaigner. Geeta regularly shares her expertise on the long-term impact of birth trauma and maternal injuries to give visibility to other women in similar positions.

In February 2024 Geeta shared her experience as an expert in maternity safety in the first national inquiry into birth trauma in the history of UK Parliament. Geeta has a special interest in health equity and in June 2024, she pioneered the inaugural South Asian Maternal Health Conference to address disparities in maternal care.

Anne Kavanagh

Solicitor and Partner
Anne Kavanagh is a Solicitor and Partner within the London office of Irwin Mitchell, leading a team of 14 lawyers. She qualified in 1998 and specialises in acting on behalf of women and children who have suffered injury as a result of negligent medical treatment.

She has fought and succeeded in a number of challenging cases in the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court and in 2021 she was awarded the Law Society’s Solicitor of the Year award for her work.
