Black mothers deserve a supported birth.

Doula UK Access Fund: referrals open

The Motherhood Group and Doula UK work together to connect our community with free birth and postnatal doula support through the Doula UK Access Fund.

The Motherhood Group is your first point of contact: we receive your request, review the information and support eligible mothers with a referral. Doula UK assesses referrals and arranges funded support, subject to eligibility and availability.

Who can request support?

First, you must be experiencing financial hardship

Evidence of benefits or confirmation of No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) is required.

You must also meet at least one of the following:

Lone parent

You are parenting on your own.

Marginalised community

You are from a marginalised community.

Housing insecurity

You are homeless or living in temporary housing.

Support for your birth and beyond

Birth doula support

At least one antenatal meeting, in-person support during labour and birth, and one postnatal visit.

Postnatal doula support

20 hours of in-person support after your baby is born.

How to request support

  1. Choose one service: birth or postnatal support.
  2. Complete the form with your contact details, due date, support needs and evidence of financial hardship.
  3. Our team reviews your request and shares eligible referrals with Doula UK, with your consent.

Your request goes to info@themotherhoodgroup.com.

Doula UK accepts referrals from healthcare professionals and partner organisations, rather than directly from applicants. TMG can act as your referring partner. Doula UK assesses applications and advises that decisions are normally communicated within 6 to 8 weeks of the formal referral.

Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance or a doula match. Requests involving additional complexities may be signposted to specialist organisations.

Doula UK Access Fund referrals are open again. You must be experiencing financial hardship and also be a lone parent, from a marginalised community, or homeless or living in temporary housing. Request a referral through The Motherhood Group below.
