Diversity Matters
Our partnership with South East London Mind addresses the unique challenges faced by Black and diverse mothers. Through music and art, we're creating inclusive spaces that celebrate cultural heritage while promoting mental well-being and community connection.
Music for mind and motherhood
BOOK NOWThe therapeutic power of singing
We're excited to share the progress and success of our "Music for Mind" group, a vital component of the Mindful Mums program at SEL Mind, now enhanced through our partnership with The Motherhood Group. This collaborative initiative, located within the Lewisham Borough, has significantly impacted participating mothers, fostering well-being, connection, and self-expression through the therapeutic power of singing.
Connect - Share - Find support
Regardless of singing abilities, mothers engage in joyful musical activities, learning new tunes and participating in grounding exercises that promote mindfulness and presence. Here, mothers can connect, share their experiences, and find support in a non-judgmental space. The focus is on enjoying the process, nurturing individual well-being, and connecting with others on similar journeys through motherhood. No prior musical background or experience is required; everyone is welcome!
Aimed to improve maternal mental health
This partnership between Mindful Mums and The Motherhood Group represents a powerful combination of expertise, cultural understanding, and community support, aimed at improving maternal mental health outcomes for all mothers, with a particular focus on the unique needs of Black mothers.
Creativity for calm
BOOK NOWSupporting mothers from diverse communities
We're excited to announce our collaboration with Southeast Mind to bring you "Diversity Matters: Creativity for Calm," a free 5-week programme specifically designed to support mothers from diverse communities.
Draw on your culture
Draw on your culture, upbringing, and heritage in a safe, understanding environment and engage in activities designed to promote well-being and reduce stress. We facilitate a space for you to connect with other mothers who share similar experiences and backgrounds and there is absolutely no artistic experience needed! Use creativity as a tool for self-expression and emotional processing.
Addressing the overlooked
By focusing on Black mothers and those from diverse communities, we're addressing the often-overlooked mental health disparities and providing a space where mothers can feel truly seen and understood.
